Thank you for your interest in my baby-friendly photo project and congratulations on your new baby!
My baby-friendly project is complimentary for new parents at Martha’s Vineyard Hospital. The goal of the project is to help the hospital update their wall of photographs (you can see them on your left when you enter the maternity ward) and to celebrate their baby-friendly initiative, with things like skin-to-skin (with both parents), babies rooming in, encouraging breastfeeding, etc. To that end, the images displayed help show those things. You can see some examples here: https://www.mariathibodeauphotography.com/blog2/2023/4/11/baby-friendly-photos-marthas-vineyard and https://www.mariathibodeauphotography.com/blog2/2023/12/31/baby-friendly-initiative-marthas-vineyard-newborn-photographer.
Since the focus of this project is the baby-friendly photo wall, taking whole family photos is outside the scope of this work (but I encourage you to ask me for more information about my studio sessions as an opportunity for photographing siblings, etc, or if you are interested in more posed photos).
I will send you a gallery of ~5 color images for your use, as well as the b+w image for the hospital to use. The hospital does have their own release form you'll sign, and, by allowing me to photograph your baby, you also consent to my use of the images on my websites (you have veto power over any specific image - as a general practice I do not post - and try to avoid photographing - exposed nipples, genitals, etc).
It's best to have baby in a diaper (but kept warm) when I arrive. I aim to be in and out in 20 minutes or so, but baby runs the show (it is helpful if you've fed them just before I get there).
You should text me when your baby is born (not necessarily the first round of notifications, but the second), as I also work and I am limited to the hospital’s visiting hours of 11-1 and 5-7, and you are usually only at the hospital for a day or two.
I can’t wait to meet your baby and help you document their earliest hours with you!
