Maternity, redux

I recently had my second child and so I wanted to revisit the photos I’ve taken for other repeat moms. All of these gowns are some of the choices I have as part of my client closet experience.

The gauzy flow is very popular right now and I love to employ it, as well. There’s something about the contrast between solid body and fluid shapes that is evocative of the water that births us all.

I also still love all of the iterations and I’m always looking for ways to highlight the beauty of a body inside a body and the anticipation of those who are waiting for their new baby.

These moms had the same due date and ended up having their babies on the same day, and I love how varied our experiences can be - one baby born by c-section, weighing about 6 pounds; the other, 10.5 pounds via birth canal.

In my first pregnancy, I took a weekly photo of my changing shape to create the final product here. For my second pregnancy, I knew I only needed a monthly photo to create the same sequence, so I simplified. I love these for the way the crescents evoke a waxing moon and the way I capture the journey.

If you are having a baby soon and are thinking about photos to save this time, I’d love to hear from you.
