Fresh 48 Sessions: Meeting Your Baby

A so-called “Fresh 48” shoot happens typically within the first two days (or 48 hours) of life - often while baby and parents are still in the hospital getting to know each other.

I love these sessions because it is an opportunity to capture all the little details of a new baby, often before they’ve even fully opened their eyes or dried off their heads.

I love to capture the temporary details, like hospital bracelets and maternity-ward blankets, that are so quickly present and quickly gone.

I also love to capture those early reflexes. The simian grasp, the soft caress of wonder.

But most of all I love to capture your post-partum interactions with a very new person you’ve been dying to meet. Seeing a face that is unique to the world is a profound moment and the photographs will help you remember the unforgettable.

Pre-pandemic, a big part of these sessions was also the siblings coming to the hospital to meet their new baby sister or brother - these moments are some of my favorite (and now they often happen at home, and I love to be there to photograph that, too).

If you’re having a new baby soon, I’d love to be there to help capture these early moments. Click the buttons below to see more of my photography and contact me now.
