shannon and morgan: lucy vincent beach proposal

It has been a summer of proposals! I think that people figure that if they made it through the pandemic together, they might as well make it forever.

I’m happy about this turn of events, as photographing proposals is one of my favorites. There is a lot of adrenaline (on all our parts - mine because I don’t want to miss The Moment after all of our planning; the proposer because they are about to embark on a nerve-wracking speech), a lot of joy, a lot of relief.

Part of my fun is helping to plan ahead of time - most people only want to propose once, but I’ve photographed many proposals and I can guide you in some of the many variations of this plan to create a proposal that fits your personalities as a couple.

For Shannon’s proposal to Morgan, the whole family was in on the secret (in this case, under the guise of a family photo session), but we escaped to a private picnic for two (gorgeously set by MV Picnic) at the end of a very long staircase on the edge of Lucy Vincent Beach.

If you’re thinking of proposing to your loved one, I’d love to be there to help you document the event.
