I might be the photographer for you if...

You’ve looked at my work, you’ve read my clients’ testimonials, but you’re still wondering if I’m the right fit for your photography needs?

Here are the top 5 reasons I might be the photographer for you:

#1: You want me to apply my eye to an idea you have or you are ready to trust me to take my own ideas and execute my vision. My favorite (and happiest) clients are the ones who trust the journey of our session and give me license to be creative.

One of my favorite creative subjects is maternity, and I always try to go outside the typical, but I also like to be creative with your family sessions (especially when you come back each year and we need to keep it different).

#2: You want someone who genuinely loves kids and understands that children are children - and knows that I only need a literal fraction of a second to get the shot. My favorite (and happiest) clients know that some of the magic in your session is the joy and chaos of this particular time and age with your children that you are trying to freeze and hold on to with your photos - and sometimes you have to get the sillies out before the gold (and sometimes, when you look back, the silliness IS the gold).

Know that you will get the posed photos of everyone looking (and hopefully even smiling), but most kids are not trained in sitting still, and I bring buckets of patience, warmth, and humor to your family session.

#3: You have family members who “hate having their picture taken” and you want a casual and painless (dare I say, even fun) session. My favorite (and happiest) clients are willing to engage in the session for the sake of it, because the outcome is worth it. As a natural introvert myself, I know what it feels like to be the uncomfortable center of attention - I keep my sessions low-pressure and consider it my goal to hear you say, “That wasn’t so bad!”

#4: You want someone who has a passionate belief in the profound importance of cultivating a story and the legacy of family photos to tell those stories. My favorite (and happiest) clients are the ones who also understand that photos hold our memories when memory fades. My philosophy as a photographer is that photos are the most powerful gift we can give each other. So your session matters. I know that this is the moment you want to save, these are the family interactions you want to hold, and I take my role in that very seriously.

Some of my own favorite family stories…

#5: You want someone to guide you in finding the right prints and products to show off your images with lasting impact and quality. My favorite (and happiest) clients understand that photos are so much more than bits of data to languish on our hard drives. They are worth the time and effort and careful curation to hold and preserve all that we most value: each other. (If you want to know more about why prints matter, skip ahead to this blog post.)

If you want someone who will help you with designing and choosing the artwork for your home, I’m the photographer for you.
