My Favorite Things 2023
For the last few years, I’ve run a contest on my Facebook page to share some of my favorite images of the year and to celebrate the love and connection I try to capture in every session. This year, I made a video of some of the highlights!
Now You're the Big Kid: Newborn Siblings
I know when my own kiddo found out a new baby was on the way, there were the typical excitement/nonchalance/dimissal/excitement phases, followed by - after second kiddo’s actual arrival - even more typical phases of excitement/sorrow/non-plussed avoidance/nostalgia. But I do know that to see the little ones I love most in the world loving each other is the truest bliss and satisfaction in my heart
hashtag capturethejourney redux
One of the things that I often think about is how photography is a tool to document and capture time as it passes, a method to freeze what spools inexorably on in one direction away from us. The transformation over that 12 months of long days and the shortest year is the most dramatic and it’s one of my favorite series to #capturethejourney.

Top 5 Martha's Vineyard Family Photo Locations
As a Martha’s Vineyard-born baby, raised in the halcyon days of local wandering, I know this Island well. And, while it’s almost impossible to choose a spot for your family photos that isn’t scenic, there are a few favorite locations I like to recommend for your family photo session - and, because the light is always changing, no spot is ever identical even from one day to the next, so there is also a great deal of built-in variety.
Your Children Will Thank You Part 3: Why Yearly Family Photos Matter
In this installment, I suggest that making a commitment for yearly family photos is one of the most important things you can do as a family.
Senior Portraits: The Pre-Commencement Rite
This in-between time, the cusp of what was and what will be, is an important transition to document. Traditionally the senior portrait incorporates some aspect of hobby or passion - whether directly, as object in the photo, or indirectly - for example, many seniors want their portraits on Martha’s Vineyard because the place itself is the meaningful element).
Your Children Will Thank You Part 2: How to Print Your Family Photos
Most of my photography clients on Martha’s Vineyard - whether family, newborn, or wedding - want to print their images, but one question that I often get asked is, where should I get them printed? It is still one of my greatest joys to see my photographs up on client walls and so one of the things that I want to help you with is the best way to print for lasting quality and impact.

My Favorite Things 2021
Last year I started an end-of-the-year contest to vote on the favorite of my favorites from 2020, and I continued the fun this year on my Facebook page to say goodbye to 2021 and to celebrate the love and connection I try to capture in every session.
Viewers voted on their own favorite photo, but I’ve collected here a few of my own from 2021.

From chunky loaf to walking monkey, the first year of life holds extraordinary changes for a baby.
Family Photography Style Guide (AKA What Should We Wear??)
One of the most common questions that families ask me when we are planning their photo session is about what to wear. My advice is that, well, it depends, but a major difference between a casual snapshot and an heirloom photo you want to hang on the wall for generations often comes down to the clothes that you choose to wear.
My Favorite Things 2020
2020 has been some kind of year, but lots of beautiful families still got lots of beautiful (socially-distanced) photographs with me, so this year I ran a contest on my Facebook page to say goodbye to 2020 and to celebrate the love and connection I try to capture in every session.
Viewers voted on their own favorite photo, but I’ve collected here a few of my own from 2020.
