Bruce and Liz, A September Wedding on Martha's Vineyard
Photographing not one but two fellow photographers made me nerve-wracked for this wedding, but the outcome was a calm and lovely celebration with close family.
Love in the Time of Covid, vol. 2 (Paul and Beth and Harry)
Another small celebration of a big love
Love in the Time of Covid, vol. 1 (Beka and Nick)
On a blustery Vineyard May day, I was there to document a re-arranged wedding day for Beka and Nick. The pandemic took much from us, but love prevails.
Birth Photography, part 2
I always knew that I was born at home and that there was documentation of the event, but I was in my mid-20s before I felt ready to watch the video – soundless, grainy and dark – and I wished that I had watched it sooner. Getting to see myself in those earliest moments of my own life was so incredibly surreal and marvelous.
Rachel and Dejan, Nobnocket Love
As a photographer, I always try to document the big picture and the small details, - the weight of memory we all carry and the photographs that help us hold it.
Joe and Brianna, A Vineyard Elopement
Long before Covid forced (or, some might say, inspired) couples to rethink cozy, small celebrations of a big love were still a hit. And so it was for Brianna and Joe, who came up the Vineyard for their November elopement.
Sam and Will, Sailing Camp Celebration
I first met Sam and Will at their “engagement” session - an opportunity I offer all my wedding clients as a chance for us to get to know each other without the pressure of The Wedding Day - and I knew right away that I was going to have fun with them.
Pumphrey Wedding
One of my earliest weddings was to celebrate Allison and Stewart and the coming together of their two families on a foggy autumn night.
An Alpaca Proposal Like No Other
I love doing surprise proposal shoots because of the intrigue and anticipation, as well as the resultant joy and celebration of a new adventure together, so I was already looking forward to Logan’s proposal - and when he told me he was thinking of incorporating alpacas, I couldn’t wait.
Courtney and Jerome
Courtney is my longest friend and I was thrilled and honored to photograph her wedding.
First, the getting ready. When I photograph a wedding, I like to be there the whole time because there is so much to the day to tell, from moments spontaneous to planned, but all of which will flee from memory as time rolls on.
Newly made and freshly born
When the tiny ones have a hold on you, these photos help recall the hazy ease of the earliest days.
Maternity Mama
I love the Iron & Wine lyric: "Mother, remember the blink of an eye/when I breathed through your body" - it's so evocative of the fantastic mammalian moment we call maternity and the importance of photos to store what our memories might not.
Capture the Journey: Family Photographs on Martha's Vineyard
I have often said that clichés are only clichés until they happen to you - and then they are the deepest human truth. So it is with that one about the days being long and the years being short and how time passes so quickly and babies grow up so fast. I love photographing that journey because I know how easily we forget the long days.
Surprise: They Say Yes!
Engagement photography on Martha's Vineyard is one of my favorite occasions - the joy and love and excitement of a new journey is infectious.
Birth Photography on Martha's Vineyard
Labor and birth are such dream-states, so profound and monumental - these birth photos are testament to the love and the work that can change the world. I am thrilled and honored to have been present when these kiddos made their entrance and to capture these moments when life was forever-after different for everyone involved.
